Analog Devices announced today that its ADIS16505 MEMS inertial measurement unit (IMU) has received the Electronics Industry Award for Automotive Product of the Year. The ADIS16505 is a 6DoF IMU capable of precision measurement of all rotational and linear motion of a platform, even under the harshest and most dynamic conditions. It is the first autonomous grade IMU available in a surface mount package, enabling its use within any land, air, or sea vehicle which can benefit from accurate positioning information.
“It is an honor to have our MEMS IMU recognized with this award,” said Bryan Goldstein, Vice President and General Manager for the MEMS Product Line at Analog Devices. “The ADIS16505 IMU is an excellent example of ADI innovation and leverages our experience in developing products that meet the demands of automotive and industrial applications where navigation, guidance and stabilization are valued.”
Established in 2018, the Electronics Industry Awards annually recognize the best people, products and business practices at the forefront of innovation. The awards winners are determined by a 50/50 weighted decision from an industry vote and a panel of expert judges to ensure the winners are selected for technical expertise and outstanding reputations.
About the ADIS16505 IMU
As vehicle navigation moves from its current assisted and semi-autonomous state toward full autonomy, the ADIS16505 IMU is a critical enabler, as gaps in coverage from other guidance sensors can no longer be tolerated. Autonomy is expected to drive a 10 times expansion in the vehicle navigation market over the next several years, which is only possible with high accuracy (~1degree per hour stability), in compact and cost-effective form factors. The ADIS16505 IMU’s performance equals that of some previous low-end Fiber Optic Inertial Systems, which are typically both 100 times larger and more expensive.
